The Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) is a community-based accredited land trust dedicated to working with landowners in the Upper Hudson Valley to protect farms and forest land from development using conservation easements. Our mission also includes activities to support the vibrant agricultural economy of our region and to help identify the next generation of farmers.
As a Regional Navigator with Farmland for a New Generation New York, ASA seeks to connect retiring farmers and landowners with farmers in search of land to continue the strong tradition of farming in the Upper Hudson Valley region. ASA hosts workshops on diverse topics such as farmland evaluation, agricultural assessment, elements of a good lease, estate and succession planning, and the role of conservation easements in keeping farmland available and affordable for future generations. We also provide one-on-one support, including making connections among farming peers, and visiting prospective properties with farmers looking for land.
