The Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) is a community-supported land conservancy dedicated to protecting local farmland from development. ASA can assist landowners and their families through the conservation process. They also help match farmers seeking land with landowners wishing to lease or sell their land. ASA offers a variety of events and programs throughout the year, including workshops, farm visits, hikes, bike tours, and a well-regarded art show, Landscapes for Landsake.
As a Regional Navigator with Farmland for a New Generation New York, ASA will connect retiring farmers and landowners with farmers in search of land to continue the strong tradition of farming in the Upper Hudson Valley region. Staff will host workshops on diverse topics such as farmland evaluation, agricultural assessment, elements of a good lease, estate and succession planning, and the role of conservation easements in keeping farmland available and affordable for future generations. They will also provide one-on-one support, including making connections among farming peers, and visiting prospective properties with farmers looking for land.
