Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer county is a primary resource supporting farmers and agricultural businesses in New York’s Mohawk Valley. We facilitate access to farmland through both direct referrals and by presenting workshops for new farmers and land owners. We also help non-farming land owners and retiring farmers explore options for leasing or selling their land for agriculture. Staff based at CCE Herkimer include an experienced team of educators and agriculture specialists who help new and established farmers succeed in their businesses.
Working with the Farmland for a New Generation New York program Herkimer CCE is taking a collaborative approach through planning programs with both Otsego CCE and Oneida CCE and by partnering with Herkimer County as it prepares its new Farmland Protection Plan. We will offer workshops on finding and obtaining farmland and the best management practices in our region.
