Genesee Land Trust preserves and protects the land and waterways that enhance the quality of life in the greater Rochester region, providing wildlife habitat, locally grown food, and connections to nature. Genesee Land Trust owns and manages nature preserves for the public to enjoy. They also use permanent agreements, called conservation easements, to conserve farmland and natural lands while the private landowner continues to care for the land. Genesee Land Trust hosts a number of programs throughout the region - urban, rural, and suburban - connecting people to nature through walks, talks, and other events.
As a Regional Navigator, Genesee Land Trust will provide assistance to landowners looking to protect their farm and to beginning farmers on identifying their farmland needs throughout counties in the Finger Lakes. Genesee Land Trust will also work to grow their role as a resource for new farmers looking to access farmland as assist them in looking for land and making connections with landowners and other agencies.
