Battenkill Valley farms is located at 15 Plains Road and lies within the Town of Jackson’s Consolidated Ag District 5. The property is 177 acres total with a 12 acre campus with 28 buildings. The campus was originally built in 1983 as a commercial mushroom farm at a cost of $3.5 Million to construct. Currently 20 acres are under cultivation. There are trails throughout the property. Western border of the property aligns with the Class III Battenkill Railroad and the Owlkill Creek, a class III trout stream.  The property is accessible from SR 313/Plains Rd, SR 22 via Driscoll Way and a third driveway on SR 313.   This project is a responsible attempt to develop an existing agricultural facility that promotes and complements other Agricultural entities such as Cambridge Valley Livestock Auction,  Clark Custom Cutting Services and Hollow Hill Forestry.  The farm is in close proximity to recreational areas and venues such as: Lake Lauderdale County Park, Lauderdale Campground, Battenkill Valley Outdoors, Battenkill Canoe and Kayak, Battenkill State Forest, Eldredge Swamp and the Battenkill River. Plains Road, LLC also owns additional acreage adjacent to the Class III Battenkill Railroad and the Owl Kill Creek. Chapin Air Field, Cambridge Valley Saddle Club and the New York State Museum laboratory are also located on Plains and Fish Hatchery Roads, respectively.  The property is currently part of the Washington County Snowmobile Trail.

Applications Open for Dairy Funding Accelerator Program

The Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation (HVADC) has opened applications for its upcoming Northeast Dairy Funding Accelerator (DFA) program. The 20-month intensive training curriculum will combine virtual and in-person sessions, as well as group and personalized Business Technical Assistance (BTA) training to help each participant meet their individualized needs. Funding for the program is being provided by the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC). Applications are being accepted until December 1, 2023.
