Condition & Current Use

Green Table Farm produced certified organic poultry for sale at the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City. We retired from the business of farming at the end of our 2021 season, and would like to sell or lease the property and infrastructure to another good steward of the land.  You could continue a poultry business or new enterprises could include vegetable farming, livestock, flowers, berries, increased grain production, mushrooms or agro forestry activities.

Soil Types

Nassau shaly loam, Bernardston, Nassau Rock Outcrop (forested) and Sun loam

Farm History & Past Use

The farm was originally three dairy farms. In 1980 it was sold to a part-time farmer who raised pigs and most of the fields were in hay production. We bought it in 2012 and have been certified organic since 2014.

Livestock / Crops Description

The farmer/owners used the farm for vegetable production to supply their restaurant and catering business in NYC from 2012 until 2018 when the restaurant was closed. We then ramped up the poultry production and raised certified organic pastured chickens, eggs and turkeys for Greenmarkets. The farm is well suited for grazing, but fencing would need to be installed and shelters built as needed. The vegetable production is concentrated in a level ~2.5 acre area of raised beds and in two high tunnels. Production of vegetables and flowers could be increased and other crops, such as berries, added by expanding cultivation into additional fields. Equipment is available for grain seeding and combining as well as general farm use.
