Condition & Current Use

Growing Heart Farm is a small vegetable farm 70 miles north of New York City.  We grow organic vegetables and host our community with small farm based gatherings. This sacred land hosts a spiritual congregation which directly supports farming.  Entering our 13th season of operations we have helped develop numerous young farmers and fostered multiple new businesses in our “young farmer incubation program.”  The current operation is optimized for greens, tomatoes, and select vegetables for CSA, market and restaurants.  We have had an ongoing CSA and good relationships with several markets.  The 42 acre property is within walking distance of a commuter train.  We practice sustainable agriculture on a 2 acre garden supported by solar power, abundant water, and a wood heated propagation house.  We have two 96x30 & one 72x30 high tunnels.  The covered processing station has an 8x8 walk in cooler and dedicated well and the main fields and tunnels  are surrounded by recently upgraded fencing, We farm with a BCS, plasticulture, and low till techniques.  Learn about us on our website.   We successfully adapted to new COVID challenges with our most successful seasons and markets to date.  Our current farming team is graduating from our incubator program and they are relocating to start their own operation with family.  The farm is in good shape with strong soil fertility and management.   We understand that the world is in flux and are open to multiple approaches to small scale farming.  We are close to many markets and have had a waiting list for our CSA all season.

Soil Types

SmC, Wy, FcD. Soil drains well

Farm History & Past Use

There are 300+ year old field oaks on the property line which borders a much larger farm.  Prior to current owners the farm was  a small horse sanctuary.

The current owner purchased a small horse property in 2010 and immediately established a small CSA.  Over the last 12 years the farming operation has steadily grown into its current form.  The farm has been home to many events and houses a great community of weekend guests.
