Condition & Current Use

Farm has 7 acres of prime farmland located near the house and barns, the the land slopes up to fenced in pastures (about 7.5 acres) and then on up the farm road to the woodlands.  There is a spring fed half-acre farm pond located above the prime farmland field and pastures that could be used to irrigate crops and water the livestock.

The current owners have three horses that use the pastures and the large barn.  A local livestock farmer grows hay on some of the fields.

There is a possibility of home-scale maple production in the woodlands.  The woods were logged about 20 years ago and will not be ready for another logging for about 7 years or more.

There are two springs at the top of the hill--one of which has a cistern that could be used in mushroom cultivation.

This property would be suitable for diverse farming production:  vegetable crops on the flat, prime farmland, grazing livestock in the pasture, and woodlot mushroom production.  The farm is located within walking distance to the district's schools.  Possible markets include the Ithaca Farmers' Market, the Broome County Regional Market, and is a 3 1/2 hour drive to NYC.
