Condition & Current Use
Currently the land is in perennial systems and new tree plantings, with some rotationally grazing with sheep and poultry. A portion of the land is being directed towards natural regeneration. Five acres of open land is enclosed in an 8 foot tall deer fence. One enterprise is utilizing the land, Food Forest Farm, to grow plants for spring nursery sales. A majority of the land is in agroforestry systems. One acre is in multispecies, fruit and nut, tree alley cropping. Four acres are rotationally grazed as silvopasture. Many of the spaces and practices are available to support a collaborating farmer/enterprise including new crops within the tree alleys, and new grazing options for silvopasture. There are 2 acres of woodlands that could be incorporated into forest farming enterprises. There are 2 acres of land in natural regeneration where non-timber forest crops, wildflowers, native plants and other non-destructive enterprises could be developed.

Farm History & Past Use
The Gayogo̱hó,nǫɁ people stewarded this land for thousands of years. In the late 1700's European/American speculators and settlers enclosed the land in the Town of Caroline and grew crops and livestock. This property was most likely part of a dairy farm for 100 years where it was grazed and hayed, and eventually sown to row crops like corn, oats etc. For the 10 years before we started in 2022 there was plowing for crops and finally harvested for hay.
Tenure Options
We are looking to collaborate with a local land steward or business. The tenure agreement would be discussed and based on the needs/goals of the land owner and collaborator/partner. Because we are an agroforestry (perennial agriculture) focused farm, agreements beyond year-to-year tenure would be preferred. There may be vegetable/row crop or livestock farming options as well with shorter tenure.
