Condition & Current Use

Northstar Farm in the Western Catskills is seeking a passionate steward of the land to manage our 62 acres agroforestry system.

The manager will be responsible for managing the diverse organic production, consisting of 18 acres of mature blueberry bushes (mechanically harvested and packed using automated packing line), 20 acres of chestnuts and 80 trees orchard. The latter two recently planted, and won’t be producing in the near future.

Responsibilities will touch on all aspects of farm operations, including: planning, planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, pest management, harvest and post-harvest, light landscaping etc. The manager will be required to supervise staff (3-4 seasonal workers during blueberry harvest), manage the various aspects of farm operation, and will work closely with the owner, who will be responsible for blueberry sales and marketing.

Together, the owner and farm manager team, will dream and execute on the vision of creating a silvopasture oasis and productive diverse farm operation on what was once a cattle farm.
