Description of the property’s current condition and current use(s):

At Rock City Mushrooms, we produce shiitake and oyster mushrooms. Our goals are to (1) inoculate all species on the farm, (2) grow additional varieties, (3) begin some outdoor, seasonal production, and (4) host workshops and other events for the public. 
Rock City Mushrooms is located at Dog Wood Farm, a diversified farm which includes grassfed beef (cow-calf through finishing, approximately 30 animals on the farm), pastured poultry (approximately 350 laying hens, 250 turkeys, processed on-farm), and one acre of vegetable and flower production (7 acres available, year-round production), and is also home to Good Food Farmers Network (goodfoodfarmers.com).

Description of tenure options:

We are looking for the right person to join our farm team to further develop our mushroom enterprise. If you are enthusiastic about mycology, interested in small-scale commercial mushroom production, and enjoy engaging with the public, you could be a great fit.
This is a year-round, full-time position. While the focus of this position is on mushroom production, all members of our farm team support activities across the farm and are interested in and appreciate how the various endeavors fit together.
