Condition & Current Use

I’m in search of an aspiring farmer (or farmers) with vegetable farming experience, preferably organic, who would be willing to partner with me on my family’s 32 acre farm. My father has been transitioning out of the business for the last 4 years and is passing the opportunity on to me. The farm was established in 1995, and there is significant infrastructure present to continue to build a flourishing agricultural business. I envision a partnership where we work together to build a team as growers to bring the crops to maturity, yet bring to the table our own independent marketing goals and objectives. As a partner and team member you will be expected to help maintain and assist with general administrative duties and decisions, general equipment operation, greenhouse starts, crop planting, maintaining crop health, harvesting and packing the crop, sales and marketing of the crop. I’m looking for someone that has at least 8 years of experience working on other farms and growing crops. Also any marketing or agritourism experience would be an added plus. The farm has established a good customer base, but I want to continue to expand it and create a well developed business plan together as partners with the long term goal of creating a thriving farming business. I need someone who understands the amount of dedication and strength that has to be put forth during the farming season to bring a season to fruition. If you think this is something you are interested in, have the qualifications and you are up to the task this could turn into a fruitful satisfying long term opportunity for all parties involved.

Water Access

We have full access to the Wallkill River and there are two spring fed ponds. There is an in
ground irrigation system that runs through the middle of the farm with access points every 100 to
200 feet for both unfiltered water and filtered water. The farm also has a well but the well has
limited capacity for watering crops.

Barns for Equipment/Storage

We have a 30ft x 50ft barn with front and rear overhead door entrances. There are also 20ft over hangs
surrounding it on three sides for tractors, supplies and packing. There is a small attached shop and also a
40ft x 20ft Retail Store that is attached.  Inside the barn is a wash pack area with sinks and plenty of
space to stay organized. Just outside the barn are two walk in coolers one 9ft W x 7ft H x 24ft L. The
Other is 8ft W x 7ft H x 12ft L. There is one propagation greenhouse 90ft x 20ft, three high tunnels; 28ft
x 96ft, 16ft x 96ft, 24ft x 96ft.

Additional Property Information

Currently there are no unusual agricultural restrictions. The farm is in the agricultural district and
designated as such. The farm in the past was primarily a production oriented business with a retail farm
stand and an active CSA. Some agritourism was also present, pick your own and farm to table dinners.
The growing of vegetables and fruits must be done organically and to certified organic standards and
requirements. As far as retailing and agritourism I am open to any creative suggestions that will move the
business forward.
