Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I have worked in a range of capacities in agriculture, from working on organic farm for 2 seasons, setting up and working a farmers market for 4 years, designing and growing in my own personal gardens, and as a member of a community garden. I'm looking for a little more room to grow.
At this point I'd realistically only be able to handle an acre or less, as I'm based in NYC at the moment and would be commuting. So the closer to NYC the better! I'm looking to lease to grow storage crops, mainly winter squash. Any small lot (that is clean: no pesticides or heavy metals or otherwise contaminated) close to the city that has good sun I would love to work with.
Buildings, water, fencing, of course a plus, but I'm willing to work with bare bones if the situation is right. I'm very flexible in many regards, but on a budget. I would be happy to arrange a worktable or exchange a percentage of the harvest in return for the opportunity to grow on a slightly larger scale. Also open to a $ leasing situation. The closer to NYC the better. Thank you!
Description of marketing method:
No plans for marketing at the moment as this would be a start up venture for me.
