Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
My wife and I live in Brooklyn, and we both have a background in film and documentary production. However, our dream is to farm native species of American grapes, and in doing so, experiment with creating new market opportunities for natural wine. Ultimately, we would like to make fine wine that's sustainably-grown, unique to its place, and fermented with as little intervention as possible. We believe there is great potential in placing value in this country's amazing––and nearly lost––varieties of wild, and hybrid grape varieties.
We are currently developing a business plan through a series of Cornell Small Farms Program online courses. We're also taking a crop management intensive course at the Stone Barns Center, and always looking for othe opportunities to learn sustainable farming practices.
We would like to search for land primarily in the Catskills or Hudson Valley region.
