Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
Organic, no-till - as sustainable as possible We are a former small farming couple from Ulster/Greene County who have spent the past 3 years in cannabis and hemp farming/production/sales in Colorado. We are now looking to come back to New York and grow industrial high-quality organic hemp and are looking for 2+ acres to farm. On-site housing a plus but not necessary. Any barns or structures that can be used for drying are a bonus as well (1500+/- SF). Hardworking couple with creativity, open to all situations.
Description of marketing method:
Extensive social media experience. Our last farm venture was a result of a Pepsi Refresh Grant that we won via the use of social media which also resulted in my speaking on a public panel on the topic of Small Towns using Social Media for funding. Website/social media presence will be active as well as working with others looking to expand the presence and awareness of industrial hemp (and it's benefits) in NYS.

Experience & education:Farm owner, On farm work experience
As a couple, we had a small family farm in Greene County for 2 years producing a small amount of vegetables as well as raising chickens for eggs and tapping our trees for maple syrup. We also had a small horse rescue and goat/home dairy. Three years ago we moved to Colorado and I (Alicia) started working for a cannabis dispensary with a 10,000 SF indoor grow. Licensed by the State of Colorado, I managed the retail store as well as coordination/administration of METRC for the grow (government tracking software for all cannabis in the state.) My husband (Eric) spent the past two years running a small cannabis grow and has since partnered to help a large-scale hemp/CBD crop get off the ground for the 2019 season, providing the plans and instructions for planting about 8,000 plants on 4 acres.
