Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I'm an aspiring sustainable farmer seeking land to turn into a multi-use operation. I have always owned horses, but would like to expand into fiber animals (sheep and goats, perhaps alpacas eventually), chickens, and dairy animals (cattle, goats, and sheep, for my own use). I would also like to develop a permaculture operation for fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and misc. crops. I am seeking land that is not restricted in terms of private internal development (houses for extended family, new barns, etc), but have no intention of parceling out for sale or removing from agricutural use, so conservation easments are not a dealbreaker. Housing, water, barns, and electric are each nice, but nothing is absolutely necessary. Organic soil not needed. Looking forward to hearing from farmers!
Description of marketing method:
At this point I am purely an aspiring small-scale farmer, with goals of self-reliance first and foremost. Both my partner and I have off-farm jobs in tech. I would eventually like to make farming my business, but this is a future goal.
