Farming Status and Plans

Years actively farming:

2-5

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

I have been living at Bluestone Farm and Living Arts Center, a property owned by the Community of the Holy Spirit, an Episcopal order of Sisters since 5/25/2018. This farm practices biodynamic farming and though not certified organic, uses organic practices. They grow peaches, paupau, apples, pears, vegetables, berries. They kept a Jersey cow before I came but she had passed away. I brought 3 Alpine dairy goats and their kids as a replacement for the cow. I milk twice daily and make chevre, panir, ricotta, queso Blanco, Gouda, Greek and regular yogurt and feta. I buy grain from a local, non-GMO mill and buy hay from a local farmer. We do not have enough acreage here to get a farmer to bale. In addition to caring for the goats I help with distilling and wine making. I have been raising goats since 2011 and had a vegetable garden at my West Nyack home of 1&1/3 acres.

Description of marketing method:

We operate an on-site farm market that is self-serve and open 24 hours.
