Farming Status and Plans
Years actively farming:10+
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I am actively farming. I have 20 Boer goats and 5 Sheep (mix breeds). I have downsized considerably in the past year. In the past I owned 15 acres and had a successful small BnB Farmstay. I sold the Blue Spoon Farm to move for a new job but the new farm did not materialize and the job didn't either! I have experience maintaining an historic structure and managing a budget of $2M. I am a successful grant writer. I am looking for land or a partnership that will allow me to continue farming and either keep my day job or provide sufficient income on the farm. I am open to other areas outside of my selected location for the right opportunity.
Description of marketing method:
I have maintained a website and used social media to get my message out including FaceBook, MeWi, Instagram, and Twitter. I have used Air BnB to book short term stays and have written rental contracts to for longer stays. I developed marketing materials for distribution to supportive local rest stops and restaurants. I have partnered with local restaurants to get my farm products on their menu and my farm brand recognized. I've decorated my apparel with my brand and logo.

Description of infrastructure:
I am able to farm without a tractor although I've had one. I f I could commute from my Odessa NY home I would not need housing.
Description of buildings required:
Goats need a barn, sheep need a run in shed, a barn will work fine. I would need a room with full house access. Internet access is preferred.
Description of water access required:
A hydrant is needed at the barn for watering the animals in winter.
Description of fencing required:
Cattle or sheep and goat woven wire fencing is preferred. A hot wire to reduce the climbing is preferred. Electronet is OK but it has proven dangerous and unreliable at the peak of summer grass height. I use electronet to divide pasture between woven wire fences.
