Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
Some associates and I are interested in creating an equine facility in Ulster County that will eventually become a not for profit. The purpose of the property will be to provide and equine experience for the at risk population, including recovering addicts, abuse victims, autistic children and adults, slave traffic victims etc. We have personally seen, first hand, what the equine environment can do for this population with regard to their road to recovery from past events and traumas.
Description of marketing method:
We are in the process of writing our business plan and are reaching out to a variety of resources for information. We would have some paying clients but the vast majority of our funding will come from fundraisers and grants.

There are 4 of us involved. 1 is a local dressage trainer (35+ years in business), 1 is a recovering addict currently benefiting from the equine experience, 1 is a young person who is in school pursuing their teaching degree and 1 is a person who has been both a teacher and business person (product manager, marketing) with an MBA. We have one person we work with who has previously helped create an NFP, written grants and has done fundraising.
