Farming Status and Plans
Years actively farming:2-5
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
My partner Ian and I farm diversified vegetables, specializing in four-season cut greens and heirloom tomatoes. We have been farming on rented land for the past four years, so 2020 will be our 5th season farming together. We farm following strictly organic standards, use cover crop extensively, balance & remineralize our soils, and aspire to incorporate livestock into our rotational system. We are looking to buy a farm so we can invest good practices into a piece of land for the long haul.
Description of marketing method:
We are currently running a 60-person delivery CSA, farmers' market and various other wholesale accounts to local farm stores and restaurants. We would like to build on this model going forward.

Crops and Livestock
Primary Livestock:Goats/Sheep, Pigs, Poultry
Description of livestock/crops:
We grow lots of different kinds of greens and hundreds of varieties of diversified produce. We want to steward multiple species of animals on our land for the fertility and benefits they bring to the farm. Ian and I are going into our 5th year of running our own farm on rented land. We learned how to farm at a certified Organic farm in Rhode Island, where Ian worked for three consecutive seasons and become a farm manager. At the same time, we were growing our own food on rented land and selling at a farmers' market and wholesale to local restaurants. We moved to NY state in early 2019 and now work full-time managing and running all aspects of our current farm.
