Farming Status and Plans
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I am currently in the process of building a farmhouse focused restaurant in Brooklyn, NY and have been looking to purchase a farm as a way to sustainably grow my business and create a self-reliant food system.
The plan is to have a 15+ acre farm producing mostly vegetables, with as much diversity as possible, flowers, bees and eventually poultry. I am hoping to be within a 2 hour drive from NYC and am looking for a farm manager to help locate potential property and then build and run the farm.
We want a strong focus on organic, biodynamic and regenerative farming practices and we will not kill animals that are not producing the way we want. The produce on the farm will dictate the menu at the restaurant and not the other way around. Patience, kindness, rehabilitation and conservation are the core concepts and values of everything done on the farm.
Description of marketing method:
The restaurant in Brooklyn, NY will be the main part of the supply chain and additional produce will go to a combination of CSA and green markets.

Description of livestock/crops:
We want the farm to focus on a large variety of vegetables with the addition of some fruits, grains, flowers. Cover crops will also play a key role in enhancing the ecosystem.
Bees will also play a role on the farm with the eventual addition of eggs laying hens. We are open to other livestock if they fit into the larger farm ecosystem.

I am currently looking to purchase land, but am also seeking a farmer to help manage the property who shares our sustainably focused ideology.
I have extensive experience in operating and managing restaurants as well as hands on large and small scale beer production. I am currently enrolled in the Cornell Small Farms Program.
Bachelor's Degrees in Entrepreneurship, Diploma in British Brewing Technology, Diploma in Restaurant and Culinary Management
