Farming Status and Plans

Years actively farming:

10+

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

We are gardeners, not farmers!  We are a Northern Westchester-based nonprofit with  a mission to increase the availability of fresh local produce.  We do this by running 3 community gardens and also by harnessing the power of volunteers and growing vegetables for donation.  We have a long-standing partnership with Neighbors Link, our local Latino community center; through them we have a subscription program where 50 families can sign up for free vegetables that are grown, harvested, packed and delivered by our volunteers.  The Land Trust matched us with two area landowners in whose gardens we are currently growing, and we are seeking a third private garden in which to grow.

Farm Characteristics

Preferred location:

  • Hudson Valley
    • Westchester

Desired acreage:

1-5

Infrastructure required:

Water access, Fencing

Description of infrastructure:

See above description- we are looking for a garden, not a farm- and it does need to be fenced, with access to water.

Crops and Livestock

Primary crops:

Vegetables

Farmland Tenure

Description of tenure options desired:

We have memoranda of understanding with our two landowners, which I can provide for review.  They are both kind enough to allow us to garden on their property at no charge; they absorb the cost of the water, which we would request of any new landowner partner.
