Farming Status and Plans
Years actively farming:Less than 2
Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
I have been a vegetable and flower grower for myself my entire adult life. This year in response to the collapse of my business, secondary to COVID, I began growing Flowers as a source of income. My business, Woodstock Field to Vase, sold flowers at the Woodstock Farmer's Market and to local restaurants and food markets. I have been growing on a small plot that is fenced and irrigated and very close to my home. To have a realistic livelihood, I need access to more growing space and I need access to a hoop house or greenhouse to extend my growing season.
I am an organic grower and I need land that gets full sun and is fenced. I need access to water and electricity.
As part of my business plan, I have enrolled in a 3-month online course this winter which will focus on the business of cut flowers.
I own a home in Woodstock so the land and greenhouse/ hoop house would need to be within 30 minutes.
Description of marketing method:
I am a believer in meeting people to discuss my product and get a sense of their need. This summer I have made numerous local connections. I am in the process of developing a website, making business cards, and I have started an Instagram account for Field to Vase.
