Farming Status and Plans

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

My brother and I are seeking to start an agricultural business to begin growing diversified vegetable crops in the Capital Region of New York State. We intend to start a family business. My brother will farm full-time. I will assist part-time. Another brother will assist part-time. We will begin operations by leasing a 1-10 acre plot of land. We are currently conducting market research, but our initial crops grown may include: assorted artisan lettuces, garlic, specialty produce, squash, tomatoes, and more.

Description of marketing method:

We plan to market our high quality, artisanal produce to discerning restaurants and farmers' market customers in the Capital Region. We will utilize social media, email, phone calls, and in-person visits to market our produce.
