Farming Status and Plans

Years actively farming:

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

Valeria Koutmina is an art therapist invested in sustainable living practices, food as medicine, and nurturing connections with nature, landscape, and animals as healing. Her work has included large-scale in situ installations, environmental initiatives, and peripatetic sessions in nature. Jason Reed is a nature and farming educator with experience in permaculture and agroecology. We are looking for a farm home together. In the long-term we would like to bring our unique set of skills to a farm that is dedicated to community, education, and healing. More immediately, the two of us are looking for a unique place that we can contribute to while building the relationships and experience we need to realize some of our larger goals.

Description of marketing method:

Online, word of mouth, local organizations and publications. Hosting workshops, teaching classes.

This depends a great deal on the specific relationship we develop with your land and what your goals are for it. At the very least, a large shed to house hand tools, etc.

Experience & education:

Experience description:

Valeria forages for mushrooms and wild edibles for inclusion in her gustatory creations, and has one of the greenest thumbs around.
Jason has substantial experience in hydroponics, animal husbandry, greenhouse management, perennial management, soil health, and indigenous farming practices. He has worked for a vineyard managing grape vines and ran an urban cut-flower CSA. He served as the sustainability coordinator for the Waldorf School of Baltimore, and was the Agriculture Educator for the Living Classrooms Foundation. We have a no-till, low carbon growing practice that utilizes rotational grazing, cover-cropping, and scything to build fertility.
