Description of farming status, plans, and practices:
For 5 years I owned a tiny goat and sheep dairy in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I hand-milked between 10-20 ewes and does, and sold the raw milk and cheese locally to friends and neighbors. I rotated the critters daily on pasture, managing for the health of the herd and the soil.
I'm searching for the right property to start my next project. With the help of fellow seasonal-working friends, I hope to develop a small farm that eventually includes an orchard, garden and microdairy. Eventually I would like to transition the farm to being cooperatively owned. My income for the near future will still come from remote work, but over time I hope the farm can pay the bills, primarily through agritourism and workshops.
