Farming Status and Plans

Years actively farming:

10+

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

Former Commercial Dairy Farmer maintaining stable full time job, and breeding/showing registered Nubian goats. Milking, making cheese, soap, etc. Wish to expand current goat herd, and add high component dairy cows for making butter, and other A2A2 byproducts. Main focus would be the dairy, but would be ideal if property could also support a companion product such as eggs and hatching poultry, gardens for roadside stand/farm market vegetables, fruits, or flowers. Raising beef and pork for market to supplement farm income is also considered. I have strong business knowledge, good marketing skills, and a pleasant personality. My support system is fully in place. I feel small stock farming is becoming very popular, because not everyone has large acreage. I am placing myself in a position to provide the foundation and replacement stock to begniner farmers/homesteaders, high end stock to show homes, as well as supply hay, and value added products. Thank you.

A barn with milking facility would be ideal. A good barn that is structurally sound. Doesn't have to be large acreage, but enough to make our own hay, and feed for the animals we anticipate. My idea of a farm is neat, organized, and Dairy of Destinction appearance. Certainly not bale wrap all over the lawn, and blowing into the fields. I take pride.
