Farming Status and Plans

Years actively farming:

Less than 2

Description of farming status, plans, and practices:

Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a small business owner of Jessica's Rabbits, currently a Brooklyn based micro fiber farm. I raise angora rabbits and as they naturally molt their wool I spin it into yarn (www.jessicasrabbits.com). I am currently looking to move out of Brooklyn for more space and would ideally like to find a space either for lease, sale, or partnership with an existing barn to expand wool production both in more rabbits and potentially larger fiber animals like sheep, goats, or alpacas.

While I have 6 years expereince in fiber animal management, I don't have much experience in agricultural food production. BUT it is an area I am extremely interested in learning more about.

Description of marketing method:

I'm a professional digital marketer with over 15 years experience in copywriting, social media, PR, and project management. I partner with local makers markets (Brooklyn Pop Up, Indie Untangled, Old Stone House, etc) for product promotion and work with fiber festivals for event-specific marketing plans.

Experience description:

My undergraduate and Masters degrees are in music performance (Manahattan School of Music and New York University, respectively). My marketing experience has been mostly on the job, working in the marketing department of organizations such as New York Foundation for the Arts and NYU, and more recently in the ecommerce digital marketing agency space. My fiber arts training is mostly on the job as well, although I've taken lessons at fiber festivals.

My unconventional background spans many areas and they all combine to set me up for success both from a practical and creative perspective in this next chapter of life!
