I am a beginning farmer currently developing plans for a small specialty cut-flower and herb farm in the Bath/Corning/Steuben County area. I am seeking approximately 1/2 acre of land to begin growing and learning through hands-on experience.
My planned crops include specialty cut flowers, culinary herbs, and edible flowers. I am particularly interested in growing high-quality flowers for local customers and developing the farm gradually as I gain experience.
I am currently researching farming practices, taking classes, and learning about soil preparation, bed design, irrigation, crop planning, pest and wildlife management, harvesting, and post-harvest care. I am interested in sustainable and responsible growing practices and am open to learning from experienced farmers in the area.
Ideally, I am looking for sunny, well-drained land with reliable water access and permission for temporary deer and rabbit fencing. I am open to different leasing arrangements and hope to develop a long-term relationship with a supportive landowner as the farm grows
