Primary reason for farming

Farm will generate the majority of my income

Farming status, plans, and practices

After working on several farms with various missions and ways to make profit; I feel I have the foundation necessary to begin work on my own projects. I've grown organically, "Unconventionally", with plastic, without. I have my own methods/practices I'd like to utilize given the opportunity, but my goal is to just provide "clean" produce to those who want it. Hopefully things go well and I'm able to grow full time and sell goods in markets/csa/etc..

I prefer to use manual tools, less machinery is ideal, HOWEVER. My main reasoning for this is because I'm able to perform most actions without the use of heavy machinery/expensive tools. If money is not an issue and those tools/machines are available, they will definitely be utilized! I'm always learning new things regarding tractor maintenance, but I have experience with heavy machinery and feel comfortable operating them for a myriad of tasks.

Farm Experience & Education

  • On farm work experience

8 years of farming on land ranging from 2 acres to 95 acres.

I've worked on Non-Profit(s), For-Profit(s) farms, farms that only do local pickup, farms that deliver goods thru a CSA, farms that have tasting rooms on site.
I've worked with livestock, poultry, water fowl, small ruminants and Livestock Guardian dogs.

Years of tractor work, spading, tilling, weeding, mowing, flame weeding, harvesting with tractor implements. General transportation using tractors/heavy machinery (farm and road travel), box truck experience.

Along with a few years as an "Urban Horticulturist" and work with a few ornamental landscape companies, I have a decent foundation with most equipment and general safety regarding familiar and unfamiliar equipment.

Some farms I've worked at listed below:

  • Blue Moon Acres (Pennington, NJ)
  • Cherry Valley Cooperative (Princeton, NJ)
  • Ironbound Farm - Ironbound Hard Cider (Asbury, NJ)
  • Carversville Farm Foundation (Carversville, PA)
