I don't currently farm but I've grown vegetables indoors in soil and using hydroponics. I've used natural methods for controlling pests. I have some experience with compost and no till systems, mulching, silvopasture, multispecie farming, micro farms and market gardens. I want to have a farm business that more than just takes care of me, that also helps other people. I would love to have a farm to table retreat or a farm recovery program where people incorporate farming into their therapy. I'm into perma culture and earth works for building soil and managing water.

I have been preparing for the past 4 years by taking classes on regenerative and permaculture principles. I've also been to farm school in upstate NY where I got to practice moving and milking cows using a machine. The trip was mostly about learning diverse business practices. I've also helped on another farm with goats and sheep. And I've helped my mom grow and tend to a large 19 bed personal garden with a small 12 tree orchard. I've dealt with pests and had a little experience with compost.

Water access
For housing a studio would suffice as long as it allows pets. I have a very sweet and smart Swiss mountain dog and Australian shepherd mix.
I suppose none of these things are requirements but eventually they are needed: water is very important well, stream, or ponds, otherwise you have to move water around. I imagine a working farm would have this. Equipment and barns for animals and equipment are really important.
Desired Tenure
I'm open to different options but eventually I would like a farm of my own so ideally in the least, I would be working to buy it. Having mentors would be great although i realize some of the practices I would like to use could be different from what's typically been done. Still I would be sponge to learn from someone with lots of experience. I wouldn't mind buying a farm and the previous owners retire on the land, as long as there's room for me to also live there and grow.
