Looking for an acre to rent or lease for short term to start to operate a market garden. I am currently working at a small organic farm and I prefer to use organic methods of farming and no till. I am seeking land in the lower Hudson Valley.

Farming status, plans, and practices

Currently only able to grow food in about 1000ft2 at my home, but using organic practices and improving my soil with compost I've drastically increased my yields in the last five years.

I prefer to use organic methods of farming like no till, top layering with compost, beneficial insects for IPM, and anything else I can do to encourage an active healthy ecosystem.

After two seasons working with another grower to manage a one acre production farm for a large family I'm confident I have the skills and experience to operate a market garden of that size on my own, and with 4 years of retail experience I'm also confident that I'll be able to navigate that side of the business as well.

Farm Experience & Education

  • Farm internship/apprenticeship
  • Farmer training or workshop
  • On farm work experience

I've also taken several classes at Westchester Community College on native plants and landscaping to encourage a healthy environment, and a college credit for Horticulture for a class I took at University of The Fraser Valley in Abbotsford BC, Canada.
