Farming status, plans, and practices
I plan to row crop and to use landscape fabric/ plastic. I'd like to use 5 foot rows, with some 4 foot rows.
I plan to use hoop houses to start and grow seeds to transplant, with some direct seeding.
Farm Experience & Education
- Farmer training or workshop
- On farm work experience
Currently taking the Beginning Farming class through the Cornell cooperative extension of Niagara County.
This class requires volunteer hours, and so far I have volunteered at McCollum Orchards, Greg’s U-pick, Lavocat's, and Goody Girl Flower Farm.
Farming Plans and Practices
Farming method or practice
- Organic (not certified)
I would eventually like to have several goats, several chickens to lay, and possibly bees.
I plan to start by identifying needs in the local market.
I plan to use social media to promote past bouquets and experiences.
I also have a podcast.
Eventually I would like to hold classes, such as building bouquets.
Farm business plan or farm resume
Family housing is preferred, at least 3 bedrooms.
If no housing is available, that is okay.
A barn or shed would be preferred in order to store equipment, and a space in the barn or s separate smaller building would be ideal for classes.
I am looking to buy, but leasing for several years is an option also.
A cooperative agreement would be fine as well.
