Farming status, plans, and practices

Not currently a land owner or leasing farmer. I work as an agroforestry educator and will gladly accept contacts seeking information on these practices as well as information on chestnut and hazelnut production as this is a special focus of mine. I plan on establishing a small lot focused on experimental designs for agroforestry practices to help promote and develop best management practices and to understand low cost entry points for experienced or entry farmers/ranchers/landowners

Farm Experience & Education

  • Farm internship/apprenticeship
  • Formal agricultural education
  • On farm work experience

I was a winemaker and viticulturalist with work experience in several different states and countries. I recently completed a MS degree in sustainable food systems with a focus on agroecology and agroforestry. My research was on eastern black walnut health, and how to better assess tree health and understand the drivers of its distribution.

Farming Plans and Practices

Farming method or practice

  • Other

My method is agroecological.  This is related to regenerative/sustainable, organic, biodynamic, with an added social aspect that stresses the importance of community engagement and understanding how policy and other factors influence the overall health of the farm. Farmers should be supported as people first, the land should be respected for what it provides, all of this should benefit the community it is in.
