Farming status, plans, and practices
My Family and I have been growing vegetables for sale and donation on a small scale for the past few years. Our access to land and equipment has been minimal and we are searching for a place where we could exchange on-farm labor for a couple of acres or more to plant vegetables, raise chickens or other livestock and park a 30' camper ( I am in the process of turning it into more of a tiny house with siding, etc.)for on-farm housing.
We are very interested in no dig, regenerative farming and anything that can leave the land batter than we found it.
Last year we donated all of our harvest (aside from what we kept for personal use) to the local community. Mostly through the Free Food Fridge Albany program. It wasn't something that we set out to do at the beginning of the growing season but after we lost our primary farmstand location we decided to do what we had been talking about for a few years and just donate all of it. It ended up being the most fulfilling and enjoyable season we have had.
Our ultimate goal is to grow food for donation with enough support from the community to pay for day to day operation of the farm and a modest salary so that I can maintain the ability to support my family while providing as much free nutritious food to people in need as possible. If you have a shared interest in this type of project we would love to hear from you!
We are a quiet and respectful family of three, myself (42-year-old father), my 22-year-old son, my 15-year-old daughter, and two wonderful dogs.
Caring for and homeschooling my daughter requires me to spend a lot of my time close to home which is why an on-farm labor exchange would be ideal. we love farming and hope to find a mutually beneficial arrangement where we can live a simple farm-centered life while helping someone with their farm or other projects.
I also have 20 years of experience in all kinds of home renovations that I would love to put to good use for someone
