Farming status, plans, and practices

I am an aspiring Farmer whose family has generations of experienced farmers in Georgia and the Caribbean. My family moved from Westchester County to Dutchess County this summer, so I am not currently farming. I have grown fruits/vegetables in a garden or indoors since age 14. I have volunteered on a farm, helping prepare seedlings, plant, and harvest. I am enrolling in farm courses and training to increase my knowledge and skill set, and I plan to use regenerative organic practices to grow foods. I currently own a grocery pop and online store with a mission to provide groceries to communities in need. We sell to everyone, and anyone can pay it forward for a family. I want to grow the items we sell as we start offering delivery and increase the number of communities we serve.

Farmland Needs

Infrastructure required

  1. Barns and Equipment Storage: We require barns and storage facilities to house our equipment, tools, and supplies. These structures will provide protection from the elements and ensure that our machinery remains in good condition. Additionally, having designated storage areas will help us stay organized and efficient in our day-to-day operations.
  2. Electrical Access: Access to reliable electricity is essential for powering our equipment, irrigation systems, and any other electrical needs on the farm. Our infrastructure needs to be equipped with sufficient electrical outlets and wiring to support our activities.
  3. Equipment: Our farming operation relies on various types of equipment, including tractors, tillers, harvesters, and irrigation systems. Investing in high-quality, well-maintained equipment is crucial for optimizing our efficiency and productivity in the field.
  4. Farmer Housing: Providing on-site housing for farmers and farmworkers is important for fostering a sense of community and ensuring that labor resources are readily available (Individual residences/ apartments, depending on the size and scale of our operation).
  5. Fencing: Installing fencing around our property is necessary to protect our crops from wildlife and potential pests. Additionally, fencing helps define boundaries and control access to different areas of the farm, enhancing security and safety for both workers and visitors.
  6. Water Access: Access to clean and reliable water is essential for irrigating our crops, maintaining livestock (if applicable), and supporting various farm activities.
