Farming status, plans, and practices

I am currently a cannabis farmer in southern Oregon and plan to return to NY to start a regenerative vegetable and poultry operation. I have experience and wish to continue implementing regenerative practices. Rotating poultry on pasture, low-till cultivating, chicken manure composting and livestock/crop integration are all practices I wish to adhere to.

Farm Experience & Education

  • Farm internship/apprenticeship
  • Formal agricultural education
  • Farm manager
  • On farm work experience

I graduated from Binghamton University in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Science. Starting in 2019 I interned and then began to work on a Biodynamic CSA/market farm that also raised meat birds, swine, and had a flock of sheep to add fertility to the soil. I have experience managing harvest teams, assigning tasks to crew members, creating a succession planting schedule, going to market, repairing irrigation, building greenhouses, and driving bucket tractors. Basically, most skills needed on a small organic vegetable operation. I would love to speak over the phone or in-person to discuss my experience and passion for regenerative agriculture since it will exceed the character limit here.

Farming Plans and Practices

Farming method or practice

  • Biodynamic
  • Organic (not certified)

Initially we will grow cold hardy greens and herbs to sell at market and once the temperature warms up in May we will raise at least 100 meat birds along with about a dozen laying hens. They will be rotated and on open pasture fenced in around a centrally located structure. Crops will follow a pre-planned successive planting schedule which will include roots, greens, grains, legumes, flowers, and perennials, not in that order.

Marketing Method

products will be sold at the local market, or through a CSA, all depending on area. We will advertise on social media as well.
