Preferred counties/regions

  • North Country
  • Hudson Valley
  • Dutchess County
  • Ulster County
  • Orange County
  • Brooklyn County
  • Queens County

Desired acreage

  • 6-10

Farming Status

Aspiring farmer: 1 year or less of farming experience

Currently farming part-time

Primary reason for farming

Farm will generate a portion of my income

Farming status, plans, and practices

In my dream world I would like a thriving flower farm with some supplemental crops but mainly flowers. I would love an old barn for use as a wedding venue to generate more supplemental income.

Farm Experience & Education

  • Farm internship/apprenticeship
  • Farmer training or workshop
  • On farm work experience

I've worked on a couple of flower farms. I read a lot. I am always hunting for new information but needing more hands on experience.

Farming Plans and Practices

Farming method or practice

  • Biodynamic
  • Conventional
  • Organic (certified)
  • Regenerative/Sustainable

Primary crops

  • black outline of a carrot Vegetables
  • black outline of a flower Flowers or Ornamentals
  • black outline hay icon Hay

Primary livestock

  • black outline cow icon Cattle - Beef
  • black outline horse icon Equine
  • Black outline of a sheep Goats/Sheep
  • Black outline of a chicken Poultry
  • Black outline of a bee Bees

I do not have any livestock currently. I would love to have a bunch though. I would love to have sheep for wool, cows for beef, chickens for meat and eggs, all of them for creating a healthy ecosystem for the farm.

Farmland Needs

Infrastructure required

  • black outline barn icon Barns - Equipment Storage
  • black outline barn with silo icon Barns - Livestock
  • black outline electrical icon Electrical access
  • black outline tractor icon Equipment
  • black outline house icon Farmer housing
  • Black outline of a fence Fencing
  • No infrastructure
  • Black outline of a water drop Water access

Housing on the location would be great. It could be a studio. More space would be better. Water access is the most important thing at the moment. A barn for working and equipment storage would be necessary. If there is a barn for the potential of livestock that would be ideal but not necessary. I would love to have the basics at the very least and grow and add to the existing space if that is desirable.

Desired Tenure

Tenure options desired

  • For Lease
  • For Sale
  • Business Partnership
  • Farm Management
  • Cooperative Model
  • Other Tenure Agreement

I would ideally love a lease to own situation. I am very open minded as I'm new to this world and if an opportunity that is mutually beneficial works out I would love to explore what is possible

Will this operation qualify an eligible landowner for an Agricultural Assessment?
