Farming status, plans, and practices

I'm seeking to establish a small-scale, regenerative hobby farm that blends traditional homestead practices with a future agritourism business. For now, I need to practice and experience different techniques. My initial focus is on diversified, humane animal husbandry: honey bees for honey production and pollination support, a small flock of meat/egg chickens, and a modest breeding herd of pasture-raised pigs for both breeding stock and meat (Idaho Pasture, KuneKune potentially), kept intentionally small to prioritize animal welfare and land health over volume. I'm committed to regenerative techniques throughout rotational grazing to rebuild soil health and prevent overgrazing, integrating animals to naturally fertilize and manage pasture, minimizing synthetic inputs, and building a closed-loop system where each element of the farm supports the others.

Longer-term dreams, I plan to grow into "Pumpkins and Pigs," an agritourism venture combining a seasonal pumpkin patch with visitor experiences centered on the farm's pigs — offering pick-your-own pumpkins, farm visits, and direct engagement with regenerative, small-scale agriculture for guests seeking an authentic rural experience. This would be with a partnership or on my own farm within the next 5 years.

I am not in the marketing mindset just yet. But I do marketing and social media for a living (work from home with clients). I can apply that to our farm if that interests you. I would need to understand the goals before developing a plan.

I am happy to build and maintain what is needed for my share if the structures are not there (fencing). I ideally would live and work on the property. I am one person who does not need a lot of things. I have an apartment in NYC and work there on occasion, happy to share that as well. I would like to have a co-op style partnership that can help each other with needs or care. If you need to travel, I would be happy to tend to your section and would love the same.
