My wife and I have been farming together for 14 years, 12 of those years we have been managing small scale organic vegetable farms ranging from 2 acres to 20 acres in vegetable production. We also owned our own farm business for a number of years in California. In addition to our commercial vegetable experience, we have extensive experience in poultry, raising thousands of both laying hens and broilers. Currently, I am managing a farm in the Hudson Valley where I oversee the production of 25 acres of vegetables, 4 high tunnels, and 2,000 laying hens. I manage anywhere from 10-20 employees throughout the season.
My wife and I are looking to start our own operation again. We are seeking to have an integrated operation, raising vegetables, livestock, and small scale fruit. Livestock integration would come over time after we have established our vegetable and fruit production.
