About the Organization
The Cornell Cooperative Extension Tri-County Ag Team provides research-based education and technical assistance to farmers and agribusinesses in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. The team supports the region’s agricultural economy by helping farm businesses address challenges, improve profitability, and adopt innovative practices.
Regional Navigator Services
We work with farm seekers and farmland owners to clarify their goals and provide guidance on accessing or transferring farmland. Farm seekers can receive one-on-one assistance and participate in group classes that cover key considerations for starting a farm, evaluating land access options such as leasing or purchasing, and developing a farm business plan. We also provide educational resources and guidance for farmland owners who are exploring options for transitioning their farm to the next generation or to a new farmer. Through consultations, workshops, and referrals to professional resources, we help both parties better understand the steps involved in farmland access and farm transfer.
