The Cornell Small Farms Program (CSFP) launched the Equitable Farm Futures Initiative (EFFI) in 2021 with the goal of enhancing diversity and success among farmers in NYS. The project has expanded CSFP’s state-wide efforts to deliver targeted agricultural education and resources to marginalized communities. Specifically, the Futuro in Ag project, within EFFI, seeks to increase access to Spanish-language and culturally-appropriate educational resources and programs for Latina(e)(o)(x) farmers. Our multilingual team successfully engages Spanish-first farmer audiences and actively seeks their input in the development of all activities. The Futuro en Ag project serves a bilingual community of farmers through the development of educational programs with a collaborative approach that responds to the expressed needs of the community. Our team of culturally competent and highly experienced agricultural educators provide direct education and technical assistance to these farmers.
