Four Winds Farm, established in 1988, is a 24 acre diversified organic family farm in Gardiner, NY. We grow certified organic vegetables on 4 acres using a no-till, permanent bed system. We also raise grass fed beef, pastured pork, and chicken. We sell our products at local farmers’ markets and restaurants in the Hudson Valley; specializing in heirloom tomatoes, blueberries, and heirloom vegetable seedlings. Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the farm manager, the assistant manager will learn our no-till production system and be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the fieldwork and our 2 person crew. This is an ideal position for someone with 2-3 years experience in small-scale intensive farming and ready to gain management experience. We are seeking to hire an assistant manager who is interested in eventually becoming the farm manager with a long term commitment. This assistant manager position is a one season commitment and the opportunity to stay on as farm manager will be evaluated in September 2021.

Job Duties:
Greenhouse operations
Day-to-day management of crew
Irrigation
Direct Seeding/Transplanting
Harvest and wash/pack management
Assist with record keeping
Manage farmer’s market stand once a week
Weekly fieldwalk and meeting with Farm Manager
Requirements and Qualifications:
Two or more years of organic vegetable production experience
Willingness to have a flexible work schedule with some evening and weekend hours as required
Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Valid driver’s license
The assistant manager position requires 40-50 hours per week during the main growing season (mid May through September) with fewer hours in early and late season. On farm housing is available. Housing is a private room in one of our barns and access to a shared kitchen and bathroom.
