Quarton Farm

Quarton Farm is a mixed vegetable operation focusing on beans! In addition to seasonal legumes we grow a selection of other crops we like to eat including lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onions, garlic and herbs. We sell produce weekly in New York City’s Greenmarket.

Job Description

Quarton Farm is seeking additional Field Crew Members for the 2021 season. Crew Members participate in all aspects of growing, harvesting and processing of produce.  Crew responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Greenhouse management
  • Seeding and seedling propagation
  • Field transplanting and direct seeding
  • Field cultivation
  • Overhead and drip irrigation set-up
  • Harvest, washing, packing of all produce
  • Record keeping and data logging

 

While farming is always physical labor, we aim to work smarter, not harder. Quarton Farm seeks to constantly improve our quality of work and efficiency of task by mechanizing our operation. Field Crew Members use of mechanized equipment may include:

 

  • Tractor driving and operation
  • Carousel and water-wheel transplanting
  • Mechanical cultivation
  • Wash/pack process line

 

Field Crew must have PMA: Positive Mental Attitude! Field Crew Members must be self-motivated and good communicators. English/Spanish speaking a plus. Crew members must be able to lift 50 lbs.

 

Full-time and part-time Field Crew Member positions available. Crew Members generally work eight (8) hour days with a 15-minute morning break and an unpaid 30-minute lunch. Field Crew Member pay begins at $14/hour and is commensurate with previous agricultural experience and vested interest in Quarton Farm.
