Job Description

Echo Farm in Essex (farmsteadcatering.com) is seeking an experienced milker to assist with once-a-day cow milking/bottling/cleaning. We will hire prospects for our herd manager position to begin relief milking shifts currently (between 2 and 5 mornings based on availability); however we would like to groom a motivated candidate who wants to transition into the full time position listed below.

The ideal candidate is excited to gradually take over herd management, is meticulous, well-organized and comfortable in the barn or behind a desk. Our herd manager will oversee breeding, milking, sanitation SOPs, calf care, supplies fulfillment, milkhouse/equipment maintenance, veterinary needs, record keeping, compliance with NYS Raw Milk guidelines, fencing, and to a lesser degree, marketing. Our herd manager will bring their own expertise but will be given resources and autonomy to develop the diary as their main project.

Compensation would be hourly for covering milking shifts and a competitive salary with profit-sharing for our full-time herd manager position.
